5 Ways to Remove Clutter from Your Home WITHOUT Leaving the House

Are you tired of the never-ending clutter that seems to be taking over your home? Do you wish there was an easy way to declutter without the hassle of leaving the house? Well, you’re in luck! I’ve compiled this list of five effective ways to remove clutter from your home without even stepping outside. Say goodbye to the mess and hello to a more organised living space. And if you need a bit more persuading to tackle the clutter, check out this post: 6 Ways that Decluttering will Lighten your Mental Load. Let’s get started!

1) Charity Collections

Did you know that many charities offer free collection services? Many will gladly collect furniture (even broken), clothes and bric a brac. Check your local charities to see which collect – asking a local social media group could be an easy way to find out which collect. This government website (UK) will take you to your local council page which may highlight which charities near you offer this service.

2) Book Buying Companies

If you have a mound of unwanted books, CDs, DVDs and video games gathering dust on your shelves, consider selling them to a book buying company. Companies like We Buy Books (UK) and Ziffit (UK, US, IE) have apps with barcode scanners that make it really easy to sell, then they will collect from you for free and transfer you the money from the sale. Decluttering has never been so rewarding.

3) Council Collections

Many local authorities in the UK will collect extra items outside of the usual black and green bins. If you’ve got old unwanted clothes that aren’t up to charity shop standards, you could dispose of them as rags via the council. Most councils will also collect bulky waste such as sofas or white goods and dispose of them appropriately. There may be a small fee for bulky waste but it beats having to pay a company or lugging it to the recycling centre yourself! Check if your council offers this service here.

4) Facebook Marketplace

One person’s waste is another person’s treasure! Selling unwanted but useable items locally is a booming market so you could even make a pretty penny in the process. Even damaged and low value items like coat hangers or boxes for packing will be snapped up too – especially if offered for free. Go to Facebook Marketplace here to share your items here.

5) Passers-By

If you live in a town or city, there’s a simple and convenient way to get rid of unwanted items. Simply place them outside your home with a “help yourself” sign. You’ll be surprised what goes! (Make sure you don’t block any pavements or leave them there for too long as you may be accused of flytipping!).

There you have it – 5 convenient ways to remove clutter from your home without ever leaving the house. Now all you need to do is sort out the items you want to get rid of! Did you find this useful? Let me know in the comments!
